Irrigation Systems:
An irrigation system is an artificial, automated water system used in landscaping to provide water to a landscape when and where it needs it. Irrigation systems not only save you time, but they also substantially reduce your water usage, which ultimately results in saving you money as well.
There are four main types of irrigation systems. These include micro-irrigation, flood system, rotary sprinkler, and spray irrigation system. Here's what you need to know about each:
Micro-Irrigation / Drip Irrigation
Provides water directly to the plants roots, which allows it to use only as much water as needed. However, this type of system is not ideal for watering large areas such as lawns. The tubing does remain above the ground, so this is something to keep in mind as it can be damaged more easily.
Water Falls / Water Features
Water walls are a great addition to any Dallas property.

Rotary Sprinkler
The rotary sprinkler's head rotates in a circle, spraying the vegetation around it. This is ideal for lawns and larger areas as it can reach much larger distances.
Spray Irrigation
This is your typical form of sprinkler. The sprinklers pop up only when they are being used. This form of irrigation is best for covering set areas. However, it is not always as precise as other systems can be.
Ultimately the type of irrigation system you choose comes down to your specific landscaping goals and the climate of the area. Contact us at Big D Landscape, and we are more than happy to help you determine which irrigation system is best for you in the Dallas area.
